Boca's Incredible Talent by Nicol Jenkins, Staff Writer |

Morgan Hayes |
Morgan Hayes of Boca Raton has aspirations of becoming the next Christina Aguilera.
And many believe she has the voice to rival the famous singer.
“People compare her voice to mine,” Hayes said.
So much so that at 16, Hayes has already been signed by a record label based in Miami.
Pop Starz Inc. (Pink Sheets: PSRZ) new record label and publisher popstarzrecords.com recently announced the signing of Hayes as the first songwriter and recording artist.
Hayes, winner of Radio Disney’s 2004 national "Sing like a Star" competition, just returned from Nashville writing and recording new material with veteran writer and producer Gene Evaro whose credits include Champagne, Sly Stone, Chakakahn, Ha*Ash, and many others.
Evaro has assembled an all star team to work on the live production of Morgan’s songs including engineer Bob Bullock, whose credits include the Tubes, Reba McIntyre and Shania Twain; |
assistant engineer Todd Tidwell, whose credits include Reba McIntyre and Rascal Flatts; drummer Lonnie Wilson, whose credits include Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill and Leann Rimes; bass guitar Alison Prestwood, whose credits include Jessica Simpson and Sheryl Crow; electric guitar J.T. Cornenflos, whose credits include Bob Seger and Tim McGraw; acoustic guitar Bif Watson, whose credits include Jewel, Peter Cetera and Keith Urban. The songs were recorded at starstruck.net with the tracking and mixing done at masterfonics.com.
"I was introduced to Morgan by Marlene Cassidy, Esq. president of Pop Starz Records and I was completely knocked out. Man, I know this is a superstar in the rough. Morgan’s uncanny ability to deliver a song soulfully and vocally at such a young age is unbelievable," Evaro said. "Today in music a lot of records you hear are done with a lot of technology, pro tools, sequencing programs, and auto tune, but with Morgan’s incredible talent, we’re using live musicians from start to finish and little technology to create a sound that will match and propel Morgan’s talent into the stratosphere."
Marlene Cassidy, Esq., President of Pop Starz Records agrees that Morgan’s talent rivals a young Christina Aguilera.
"It is not just Morgan’s talent that attracts us; it’s her attitude, commitment to work hard and self-confidence that make us certain that she will become a national sensation with the release of her first CD," Cassidy said.
Young age
But a career in music was far from Hayes mind at a young age. However, that changed when she was thrown into vocal lessons at age 9.
"When I was little I was always singing, but I never thought much of it. I was so shy. But someone thought to put me in voice lessons," she said. "In my first class, the teachers asked me to sing a note and after she walked outside and told my mom that I was going to be a star."
She continued to sing in competitions, at a Harlem Globetrotters game, the re-opening of the AMI building, and talent shows as a student at Pope John Paul II High School. At one of the competitions the owner of Pop Starz recognized her talent and shortly after she landed a record deal.
"It’s a really great feeling. I’ve worked so hard to reach this point and I have a lot of work ahead of me, but I’m excited," she said.
Fame
Luckily, Hayes will work with producers who have shaped famous musicians.
"I’m in the studio and look at them and think ‘Oh My God’ I’m working with huge people," she said.
But Hayes said she wouldn’t let fame change her beliefs.
"I want to be a really good role model to girls," she said. "I want to let them know that you don’t have to get into bad habits to be popular."
However, she does hope to make it big and follow in her idols footsteps.
"[Aguilera] truly can sing. She’s a true singer," she said. |
